Heidi Linck (*1978, Breda, Netherlands) is an artist, educator and researcher whose practice explores how places, architecture and material environments carry memory, presence and meaning. Working across sculpture, drawing, installation and site-specific work, she develops projects that often begin with a sustained investigation of a place, object, material or situation.
Research and making are closely intertwined in her practice. Linck is interested in the less tangible layers that shape our experience of physical space: memory, emotion, atmosphere, traces of use and absence. Her work often moves between the observed and the imagined, between what is materially present and what can no longer be seen.
In recent work, these interests have led her towards buildings and places undergoing transformation. Here she investigates what might be understood as the genius loci: the spirit of a place. Not as a fixed essence, but as something continually shaped by use, memory, change and disappearance.
Her works take diverse forms, allowing the character of each investigation to determine how it is ultimately expressed.
Linck’s work has been exhibited widely in institutional and gallery contexts, including presentations at the Prix de Rome (De Appel, Amsterdam, 2009), Museum Van Bommel van Dam (Venlo, 2012), the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (Rijeka, 2013), Galerie Plan D (Düsseldorf, 2017) and Museum Belvédère (Heerenveen, 2024). Her works are held in public and corprate collections, among them Museum Van Bommel Van Dam, Provincie Gelderland, UMC Utrecht, Insinger Gilissen Amsterdam, and numerous private collectors. Heidi Linck has realized several temporary and some permanent public sculptures commissioned by local governments and heritage institutions.

Heidi Linck (*1978, Breda, Nederland) is kunstenaar, docent en onderzoeker. Haar werk onderzoekt hoe plaatsen, architectuur en materiële omgevingen herinneringen, aanwezigheid en betekenis dragen. Ze werkt met sculptuur, tekenen, installaties en locatiegebonden projecten en ontwikkelt projecten die vaak beginnen met een diepgaand onderzoek naar een plek, object, materiaal of situatie.
Onderzoek en creatie zijn nauw met elkaar verweven in haar praktijk. Linck is geïnteresseerd in de minder tastbare lagen die onze ervaring van de fysieke ruimte vormgeven: herinnering, emotie, atmosfeer, sporen van gebruik en afwezigheid. Haar werk beweegt zich vaak tussen het waargenomene en het verbeelde, tussen wat materieel aanwezig is en wat niet langer zichtbaar is.
In recent werk hebben deze interesses haar geleid naar gebouwen en plaatsen die een transformatie ondergaan. Hier onderzoekt ze wat begrepen kan worden als de genius loci: de geest van een plek. Niet als een vaststaande essentie, maar als iets dat voortdurend gevormd wordt door gebruik, herinnering, verandering en verdwijning.
Haar werken nemen diverse vormen aan, waardoor het karakter van elk onderzoek bepaalt hoe het uiteindelijk tot uitdrukking komt.
Het werk van Linck is veelvuldig tentoongesteld in institutionele en galeriecontexten, waaronder presentaties in de Prix de Rome (De Appel, Amsterdam, 2009), Museum Van Bommel van Dam (Venlo, 2012), het Museum voor Moderne en Hedendaagse Kunst (Rijeka, 2013), Galerie Plan D (Düsseldorf, 2017) en Museum Belvédère (Heerenveen, 2024). Haar werken bevinden zich in openbare en bedrijfscollecties, waaronder Museum Van Bommel Van Dam, Provincie Gelderland, UMC Utrecht, Insinger Gilissen Amsterdam en tal van particuliere verzamelaars. Heidi Linck heeft tijdelijke en enkele permanente werken in de openbare ruimte gerealiseerd in opdracht van lokale overheden en erfgoedorganisaties.
