BIO
Heidi Linck (b. 1978, Breda, the Netherlands) is a Dutch visual artist currently based in Ede, the Netherlands. She obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts from ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in Arnhem in 2006. Working across site-specific installation, architectural object-making, and conceptual scale modelling, Linck has developed a spatially oriented artistic discipline in which space functions simultaneously as subject, context, and material. She is best known for her architectural installations and in situ sculptural interventions that investigate the constructed environment through both monumental projects and meticulously conceived scale models.
Linck’s practice centres on the poetics of transitional environments shaped by layered human and non-human activity. She focuses on sites where functions have disappeared and meanings remain unresolved, approaching these locations as liminal spaces between past and present. In her early period (2006–2013), she realized temporary interventions in abandoned buildings and natural settings, transforming found spaces into theatrical sculptural environments. These projects established her reputation within space-based art and led to public commissions and interdisciplinary collaborations with curators, researchers, and landscape architects. A key project, Panorama Fibula (2022), reimagined a Roman fibula as a sculptural watchtower, marking her conceptual shift toward understanding the scale model itself as an autonomous architectural artwork.
Linck’s work has been exhibited widely in institutional and gallery contexts, including presentations at the Prix de Rome (De Appel, Amsterdam, 2009), Museum Van Bommel van Dam (Venlo, 2012), the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (Rijeka, 2013), Galerie Plan D (Düsseldorf, 2017) and Museum Belvédère (Heerenveen, 2024). Her works are held in public and corprate collections, among them Provincie Gelderland, UMC Utrecht, Insinger Gilissen Amsterdam, and numerous private collectors.
